Safety inspections at ORNL require trained personnel to manually walk spaces and document hazards. Coverage is incomplete, subjective, and slow—especially for time-sensitive or remote environments.
Research approach
Takes an image of a space or piece of equipment plus optional text context, runs it through a multimodal vision-language model for safety analysis, and outputs a structured hazard analysis with risk scores and corrective actions.
